What if you could be a
calm and present parent
in the face of parenting challenges?

This 8-module course will support your shift from a reactive to responsive parent.

Is your home running on stress, silence, or shouting?

You love your children deeply, but you often feel stuck in a vicious circle. Your child’s anxiety triggers your worry. Their defiance triggers your anger. Then comes the guilt, the overwhelm, and the late-night regret.

You have tried behavior charts, strict consequences, and gentle parenting scripts, but nothing seems to stick. That is because you cannot calm a storm if you are also spinning inside it.

Welcome to The Parenting Shift: Using The Work of Byron Katie to Transform Your Parenting

This isn't just another parenting class about how to get your kids to listen. This is a deep-dive journey into the #1 Key to Great Parenting: Your Own Internal State.

In this 16-week program, we move beyond surface-level tips to address the root causes of family disconnection. We dig into the roots of your reactivity, the "motherlode" of generational beliefs, and the hidden fears that sabotage your best intentions.

"I could say so many things about The Work. It has helped me in countless varieties of situations. Here’s one statement that speaks to a range of my experiences…

Whenever I feel overwhelmed or powerless about a choice, or feel I just don’t have a choice in a situation, doing The Work settles me in such a powerful way. It feels like somatic work, like I’m contacting my body’s memories and releasing old stuck energy that has been long held on to.

I come out of the session having such a different mindset! I feel calmer, more purposeful, insightful and creative. I have more direction, sometimes just more acceptance, and nearly always am a whole lot calmer and happier than I was prior to doing The Work.

It’s a practice that takes some getting used to and some commitment . And it’s so worth it. It’s life changing." 🌟

The Work of Byron Katie is the best tool that Jacqueline Green and the GPS coaching team have found for developing a growth mindset.

This course is for parents who are not looking for quick fixes. Most will have done The Work before and want to go deeper.
However, if you resonate with The Work we did on the webinar, you can join even if you are brand new.

"The Work stopped me from taking it personally- my son’s anger. I was able to maintain my calm much better in the moment. Not 100%, but it was pretty good.

My husband said so many times that he couldn’t believe how calm I stayed.

I also let it ride off me when friends heard him and were horrified and thought he was gonna grow up to be a murderer!! “You shouldn’t let him speak to you like that.”

Adding play and humour was the icing on the cake.

Before The Work, it was awful. I met him exactly where he was at - not in a good way. I became a 4 year old!! Not conducive to a productive exchange 😂

Feeling sorry for myself and guilty also inflamed the situation because I could never win. I was focused on me. In a negative way."

Modules

Module 1 Module 1

Module 1: Decrease Anxiety and Reactivity while Increasing Confidence (For Yourself and your Child)

  • What anxiety tells us: Use the alarm bell to notice if there’s real danger or if you are stuck in a fixed mindset. (The part of the brain that is very poor at solving problems.)
  • Stop the vicious circle: Learn how to stay calm during your child’s dysregulation, so that you can lead them into higher ground.
  • The most leveraged Work you can do: Deepen your practice of doing The Work so that you can bring your brain back online faster when anxious thoughts hit. Parent from logic and love, rather than fight-or-flight.

Module 2: Transform Shame, Guilt and Regret so You Show Up as the Parent You Want to Be

  • The wolf in sheep’s clothing: Nothing erodes parenting worse than these three emotional cousins, shame, guilt and regret.
  • Learn an instant reframe: Jacqueline will share a powerful question you can ask yourself in the moment to shift you into constructive action, instead of destructive rumination.
  • Live from the truth: The combination of a more realistic perspective, plus doing The Work, will get you out of shame, guilt and regret and into constructive action.

Module 3: Breaking Generational Cycles so Your Kids Have a Clear Slate

  • Ghost busting: Disarm the beliefs from childhood that make parenting hard today.
  • Mine the motherlode: Find ways to forgive your parents and in the process, yourself.
  • Keep the wisdom, leave the wounds: A process for consciously choosing which family traditions to pass down, and which generational traumas to end with you.

Module 4: Overcoming the Paralyzing Power of Your Worst Fears for Your Children

  • Shine light on what’s true: Our worst fears for our children get their power by not being challenged, just like the monster under the bed.
  • How these fears erode our parenting: From making us smother our children, to not allowing others to help with childcare, we’ll explore how our unexamined fears for our kids contribute to them not feeling safe and confident in the world.
  • Companions to help you face your fears: We will do The Work to bring your darkest fears for your child’s future into the light, which will strip them of their power.

Module 5 Module 5

Module 5: Conquer Procrastination and Overwhelm

  • Overwhelm is a mindset: Identify the specific perfectionist beliefs ("I must do it all." "It has to be perfect.") that freeze you in states of procrastination.
  • Five-minute shift: Explore how a five-minute inquiry can help shift you back into a growth mindset.
  • The three words that can automatically get you out of your reactive brain, and into your problem-solving, responsive brain.

Module 6: Raising Responsible Kids: Blocks to Getting Them to Contribute

  • What’s really going on? What stops you from asking your kids to contribute or have them follow through on agreements?
  • Stop the saboteur: Learn how to use inquiry to keep your past resentment and frustration from sabotaging change.
  • It’s better to do it myself: Look at how standards interfere with letting others contribute, and how you can become better at training people to do things your way.

Module 7 Module 7

Module 7: Ending the Screen Time Battles

  • Generational culture shock: Examine why digital life feels so threatening to us as digital immigrants, versus our children who are digital natives.
  • Find agreement: Learn how to partner with your child, instead of policing media use. When we work together on agreements, our children learn life skills for dealing with media, while strengthening their own internal discipline.
  • Work on our internal screens: Sometimes we get lost in our projections in our mind, which is just as compelling as the digital screens

Module 8: From Conflict to Collaboration with Your Co-Parent and Community

  • The myth of independence: Examine the toxic thought patterns ("I should be able to handle this alone." "Asking for help is weak.") that keep you isolated.
  • Vulnerability as a magnet: Question the thoughts that keep you from dropping the facade of the "perfect parent". Being real means being relatable, and is key to attracting genuine friends and support.
  • Pattern interrupt: How to shift out of conflict and tension and into collaboration, even with a co-parent with a long history of disappointing results.

1. Video: The Basics to Get You Started

The Work is deceptively simple—but for most of us, it isn't easy. If you are new to this practice, this foundational video will set you up for success and give you the tools you need to dive in. If you are experienced, it will help you to hone your skills with this powerful tool.

In this introduction, you will learn:

  • The Big Picture: The true potential of this practice to transform your daily life.
  • Overcoming Obstacles: How to spot and avoid the common pitfalls that block the process.
  • Finding Your Focus: How to identify the best underlying thoughts and statements to investigate.
  • And much more...

2. Video: Healing Together: The Art of Facilitating The Work

One of the greatest gifts of The Work is the ability to practice it with a partner. For many of us, healing happens faster and goes much deeper when we feel supported by a community, making partnered sessions a true game-changer. Not only is it a highly accessible alternative to traditional counseling, but witnessing someone else navigate their toughest thoughts is profoundly validating—it reminds us that we are never alone in our struggles.

In How to be a Good Facilitator of the Work, Jacqueline guides you through the exact steps to maximize your partnership sessions.

What you’ll learn in this video:

  • The Art of Facilitation: How to hold a safe, effective, and supportive space for your partner.
  • The Receptive Client: How to lean in, open up, and get the absolute most out of being facilitated.
  • Beyond the Session: How these core listening and communication skills can transform every other relationship in your life.

3. Video: Press Play & Start Your Inquiry: A Guided Judge-Your-Neighbor Worksheet Session

Settle in, grab a pen, and let’s do The Work together.

Filling out a Judge-Your-Neighbor worksheet is the first step toward clarity. It can be a powerful start to the meditative process to slow down and see what is true for you in the moment. In this video, Jacqueline acts as your personal guide, helping you identify the moment and drop into it so that you can access the insights waiting in your frontal cortex.

What to expect in this session:

  • Finding Your Moment: Jacqueline walks you through identifying a specific, stressful situation to ensure your inquiry is focused and effective.
  • The 6 Questions: You will be guided through each question of the worksheet with enough space to find your own authentic answers.
  • Compassionate reflection: As you notice the thoughts that arise in the stressful moment, Jacqueline will remind you of the universality of your experience and the source of your suffering, which stops the blame game and moves you to offer yourself and others compassion.

How to use this video: Think of this as an interactive meditation. You can return to this recording every time you have a new worksheet to fill out. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or new to The Work, being guided helps you bypass the ego and reach a deeper level of self-examination.

4. Video: The Comparison Guide: Is The Work, Counseling, or a Listening Partnership Best for You?

While The Work of Byron Katie, Listening Partnerships (Hand-in-Hand Parenting), and traditional counseling all offer profound support, each can serve a unique purpose in your emotional growth. Understanding these nuances helps you choose the right path for your specific situation.

In this video, Jacqueline explores:

  • The Growth Mindset Lens: How each modality impacts the chances that you are in a growth versus fixed mindset.
  • Housekeeping vs. Deep Cleaning: A fun and practical analogy to help you decide if you need "light maintenance" for your day or a "deep scrub" of your core beliefs.
  • Finding Your Way: Why you might use different tools at different stages of your journey or all three at once.

Whether you are looking for immediate emotional release or a long-term shift in your perspective, this video will help you navigate your options with clarity and confidence.

5. Video: The Body Image Legacy: Finding Freedom for You and Your Kids

Your relationship with your body is a blueprint for your children.

In a world that constantly tells us we aren't enough, body image can become one of the heaviest burdens we carry. It doesn’t have to be this way. When we do The Work on these thoughts, we don't just find peace for ourselves—we model a new kind of freedom for our children.

In this video, Jacqueline guides you through:

  • Breaking the Cycle: Understanding how our internal body-shame impacts our children’s self-perception and how to stop the transmission of those beliefs.
  • Cleaning the Mirror: How to use The Work to dismantle the stressful thoughts we have when we look in the mirror.
  • Cravings & Resistance: A brief look at how the way we see our bodies affects how we treat them.

Stop fighting your reflection and start finding freedom for you and your children. Watch now to learn how to rock your body image from the inside out

6. Video: Beyond the Diagnosis: Thriving with Neurodiversity and Special Needs

When a diagnosis changes everything, your mindset becomes your greatest asset.

Parenting a child with special needs—or navigating your own neurodiversity—demands a level of resilience that goes beyond the "standard" parenting toolkit. In this video, Jacqueline explores how to move from the paralysis of a diagnosis into a state of thriving, using the combined power of brain science and inquiry.

Key topics covered in this session:

  • The "A-Game" of Advocacy: Why thriving in the world of special needs requires us to cultivate a high level of mental clarity and presence.
  • Neuroplasticity & Hope: How understanding the brain’s ability to change can shift your perspective from "fixed" limitations to "evolving" possibilities.
  • Breaking the Rigidity Loop: A look at how anxiety and hopelessness create a "mental freeze" that mirrors the challenges we are trying to solve.
  • The Work as a Regulator: Using inquiry to dissolve the overwhelm, allowing you to move out of survival mode and into a space of creative problem-solving.

Whether you are navigating autism, ADHD, or any other diagnosis, this video is an invitation to stop fighting the "what is" and start nurturing the "what’s possible."

7. Video: Numbing Out? How to Meet Your Habits with Inquiry and Grace

What if your coping mechanisms aren't the problem, but a call for help?

When we find ourselves numbing out—whether through scrolling, eating, substances, or staying busy—our first instinct is often to judge ourselves. But judgment only fuels the cycle. In this video, Jacqueline helps you pull back the curtain on addictive behaviors to find the underlying thoughts that drive them.

What we explore in this session:

  • Seeing your Innocence: When you understand the logic behind your coping mechanisms, it’s natural to be gentle on yourself. You aren't bad; you are seeking relief from a stressful thought in the best way you know how.
  • The Root of the Urge: How to use The Work to uncover the specific, stressful beliefs that make numbing feel like a necessity.
  • Breaking the Habit Loop: Understanding the relationship between a stressful thought, the emotional trigger, and the resulting behavior.

Stop fighting your habits and start questioning the thoughts that created them. It’s time to move from numbing to noticing.

8. Video: The Entitlement Trap: Anxiety, Culture Shock, and The Work

Raising children in the digital age often feels like navigating a foreign land without a map. Many of us—the "digital immigrants" who grew up with free-range childhoods—feel a deep culture shock when faced with the demands and expectations of today’s kids. In this video, Jacqueline explores how to escape the trap where our own anxiety and resentment can accidentally fuel entitlement.

In this session, we discuss:

  • The Ancestry of Parenting: How our "free-range" roots make today’s parenting landscape more of a culture shock, and how to bridge that gap.
  • The Anxiety Connection: How our own fears of not doing enough or giving enough can unintentionally create an environment of entitlement.
  • Releasing Resentment: Using The Work to dismantle the "shoulds" we hold against our children, allowing us to see them clearly again.
  • Nurturing the Giver: Practical ways to pivot from power struggles to invitations, helping your child (and others) tap into their natural desire to contribute and connect.

Move beyond the frustration of "how things used to be" and learn how to lead your family with clarity, presence, and a giving heart.

9. Video: From "Monster Mama" to Mindful Mentor: A Conversation with Jacqueline Green on the Happily Family Conference

This interview with Jacqueline Green is a raw, transformative look at the messy reality of parenting. Whether you’re currently in the thick of "monster mama" moments or trying to navigate a difficult co-parenting dynamic, Jacqueline’s story offers a roadmap from deep shame to a powerful growth mindset.

In this vulnerable and deeply moving interview, Jason and Cecilia sit down with Jacqueline Green to discuss the pivot points that transformed her family. Jacqueline shares how the extreme challenges following the birth of her children led her to a place of deep despair—and how those same challenges became the catalyst for a life-changing growth mindset.

Key points:

  • The Shame-Aggression Cycle: Why feeling "not enough" often manifests as anger, and how to break the loop of "monster mama" moments.
  • The Transparency Balance: Practical advice on what (and how) to share with your children when you are navigating the complexities of co-parenting.
  • Anxiety vs. Intent: Have you ever said the "right" thing but had it land completely wrong? We discuss how our internal anxiety shifts our tone and body language.
  • The Self-Criticism Wall: How our own "inner mean girl/guy" actually creates a barrier that drives our children away, rather than drawing them in.
  • The "Peeled Shrimp" Effect: Understanding the vulnerability of being truly seen and the immense power that comes from sharing our truth, even when we feel completely exposed.

Why This Matters

We often think our stress is a private burden, but it is a silent guest at the dinner table. This session is a masterclass in shifting from a place of self-judgment to a place of self-compassion, ensuring that our stress doesn't define our parenting legacy.

"Our children don't need us to be perfect; they need us to be present and willing to grow."

"As I used to say to clients….The Work did not “fix” the fact that my son did not go to bed as easily as I wanted, or thought he should. But it helped me let go of so many negative thoughts and expectations around it, which reduced the stress and ultimately that did help him sleep.

I can think of many examples like that, but that one comes to mind right now."

~ Larissa from Winnipeg, MB

Hi I'm Jacqueline, founder of Great Parenting Simplified and your Guide.

What can I offer you as your guide on this sacred quest as a parent?

Byron Katie says that everyone deserves a personal experience of someone whose life has been transformed. Until I started to do The Work of Byron Katie, I was not able to implement the powerful parenting information that I was helping to spread throughout the world via the Great Parenting Show that I founded in 2009. I’ve interviewed over 150 of the world’s top experts, and I know firsthand, how erosive more parenting information can be. I felt more and more like a fraud with every expert interview I did, while struggling with my own family, marriage, work issues, etc.

I was passive, always trying to be agreeable and liked, but that only led to me either blowing up, or become so lethargic and unmotivated by life that I struggled to get anything done.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (cbt) was helpful for taking me from clinically depressed to functional and good it many ways. It took The Work for me to become the parent I so deeply wanted to be. Literally every aspect of my life has been transformed by doing The Work in community. That’s why I’m so excited to offer this course for the first time.

The one thing I'd do differently for my kids:
I would start doing The Work, and doing it intensely, much sooner. That one change could have shifted things so powerfully. We talk in GPS about how a 1 degree shift at the start of an ocean journey can result in us landing on a different continent.  I see the perfection of how things have evolved for my family and I, and I also see how many of our subsequent challenges would have been affected. If I been truly calm and confident, not trying hard on the surface to present that image while paddling furiously under the surface of the water, like a duck on a pond, my kids would have had so much less intensity to wade through in their lives. I don't regret the past, and I am doing today what I wish I'd done then.

I'd heard about the importance of my emotional regulation for years (and ironically was teaching parents about it) before I found a tool that showed me how to keep my cool in tense moments. Like you, I was busy, stressed, and thought I could figure it out on my own.

In 2014, after leaving my husband for the second and last time, I started to teach The Work to parents in my first Inner Circle small group coaching program. I knew that without a growth mindset they’d have the wrong energy in the heat of the moment, even if they remembered to say the “right” words. Other ways I’d tried to teach a growth mindset to parents didn’t work very well, as parents balked at doing the cbt-based exercises in my 1-1 work with them. On the Great Parenting Show, I’d interviewed Grace Bell, a certified facilitator of The Work of Byron Katie. So I decided to see if that modality, similar in many ways to cbt, would be more effective at shifting parents' mindset.

At first, I prefered my cbt tools, so I did the Work only enough so that I could answer my client's questions. After I got over my own barriers to it, such as getting confused about turnarounds, I started to see how much more helpful it was to me. I felt more relief, and a greater ability to solve my serious problems. I began to turn to it more and more whenever I felt stressed.

One gift of my separation and divorce, was that intensity and pain drove me to seek help. The Work helped me dive more fully into my emotions and see the hell my mind was creating for me. Then it would lead me to see things from a higher vantage point.

A virtuous cycle began. Each time I did The Work I got relief from my suffering and clearer thinking, which led to being better at solving my problems. That led to me turning up the volume on the quantity of The Work I did. I learned that if I made the Work a priority, especially when things were extra stressful and my time was very tight, I’d benefit exponentially. I saw again and again how I was able to find creative, elegant and/or life-saving solutions to my serious problems when I questioned the walls that my ego was adding bricks to.

I look forward to taking a small group of parents through the inaugural version of what I expect will become a regular course that I teach. It will be an adventure full of joy, surprises and relief. If you have any questions, reach out to me at JacquelineG[at]Great ParentingSimplified.com.

"In a nutshell, practicing The Work over the past 5 years has helped me cope with some of the most challenging, painful situations that life has thrown at me.

It has shifted my perspective many times and expanded my capacity for compassion (both self-compassion and compassion for others) and unconditional love. It has also contributed to improved relationships with my family and friends, and a big reduction in my fear-based thoughts and actions. It has been life-changing, and I am forever grateful to Jacqueline and GPS for introducing me to this incredible tool.

In my opinion, it is so powerful that it should be on prescription for depression and anxiety!"

"My journey with The Work has been truly transformational. I started out confused and unsure, not really understanding what it was or how it worked. What changed everything was simply staying with it. Through consistent practice, I began noticing shifts that genuinely amazed me.

By exploring our thoughts through The Work's questions, we find ourselves untangling the past and the future we create in our head. We also bring our awareness to the emotions and where they show up in our body, which brings some release to their grip on us. With time, we find that the thought or belief we were so sure of, is nothing but a thought that is vulnerable and malleable that changes as we explore it to one that serves us rather than drains us.

Today, I cherish the weekly hour I spend doing The Work and the changes it has brought into my life. I still practice it every week with my partner—something we’ve been doing for over four years—and it’s become a meaningful, grounding part of our lives.

Thank you GPS ❤️

The Work is something I believe anyone curious about inner change can explore."
